Rate Your State Part 3 – I Heart New Jersey

I hereby vow never to make fun of New Jersey. I officially take back everything bad I have ever said about that Big Hair-Chemical Refinery-The Accent is an Assault on the Senses State…damn, I did it again. New Jersey ratified the Constitution a couple of weeks after Pennsylvania – December 18, 1787 to be exact. New Jersey was also the site of the most famous – or infamous – duel in American History. On July 11, 1804 in Weehawken, Vice President Aaron Burr shot and killed former Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, in a duel (yes, Virginia, Burr was the sitting Vice President when he shot a guy…sound familiar?).

The home state of Jon Bon Jovi, Abbott & Costello, Frank Sinatra,  Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Bruce Springsteen, Jason Alexander and Bill Maher has one more reason to be proud, for in that state both spouses and domestic partners inherit under the state’s intestacy laws!

♥♥♥♥1/2 Hearts. A half a heart deduction for….well….it’s Jersey.
