Federal Marriage PR Campaign

Some of you may have seen this.

“[T]he federal government is funding a $5 million national media campaign that launches this month, extolling the virtues of marriage for those  ages 18 to 30.”

Why? And I’ll ask again: why????

Our problem is not that we are single, or problem is that the law treats us differently that it does married couples. Period.

Apparently our new administration is into the marriage promotion thing as well…albeit not as agressively as the last administration.

  1. How ridiculous! First of all, why is this something the government should spend taxpayer dollars on? Second, 18 to 30 year olds are the last people we should be pushing to get married!

  2. Thanks for your comment, CLB. I think the problem lies in the fact that many in Washington believe that the decline of marriage is to blame for all social ills. As long as enough of our policy-makers believe this, we will continue to see policy initiatives like this.
